Porsche announced its latest addition to its electric car portfolio at the Auto China 2026 show in Beijing. The new model is named the Cayenne Coupé Electric, and it is a sleeker, faster version of the brand’s already successful SUV. Many big SUVs look like boxes on wheels, but this one strives to look more like a sports car. It inherits its design from the renowned 911, giving it a roofline that dips down swiftly toward the back.

This design choice is as much for excellent looks as it is to help the car cut through the air considerably better than a normal SUV. Cayenne Coupé Electric scores a Cd of 0.23 – the normal SUV version is a 0.25. Because of that relatively minor difference, the new Porsche can travel further on a single charge. Depending on which model you purchase, you can get up to 416 miles of range. That is around 11 miles more than the non-coupe variant can manage.

The car is rather huge, even if it appears sporty. It is 196.3 inches long and 78 inches wide, and it sits 0.94 inches lower than the conventional SUV, standing at 65 inches tall. Porsche also gave it a distinctive windshield and a rear spoiler that moves. It is a large vehicle that wants to be a race car when it grows up.

When it comes to power, Porsche is providing three different models. The base model Cayenne Coupé Electric starts with 300 kW, which is around 408 horsepower. If you engage the “Launch Control” option, it increases to 325 kW. This allows the car to go from 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds. Its top speed is 143 mph. That is likely more speed than anyone needs for a school run, but it is there if you want it.

The Cayenne S Coupé Electric has even more power if that’s not enough. Normally, it generates 400 kW, but with overboost, it may reach 490 kW. It takes 3.8 seconds for this mid-range model to reach 62 mph. Additionally, it can reach a higher top speed of 155 mph.

The most powerful version is the Cayenne Turbo Coupé Electric. This model has 630 kW of power, but when utilizing boost, it rises up to 850 kW (that is 1,156 horsepower). It can sprint to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds. For a car that weighs this much, that type of speed is almost hard to conceive, and it can keep running until it gets 162 mph.

Charging the latest electric Porsche is also expected to be rapid. It employs an 800V system, and it can hook into a DC fast charger and pull in up to 400 kW of electricity. If the charger is quick enough, the battery fills up before you can complete a cup of coffee. For home charging, the car comes with an 11 kW charger, but you can upgrade to a 22 kW version if you wish to pay a little extra.

Inside, the cabin is loaded with electronics. There are screens everywhere, including one particularly for the individual sitting in the passenger seat. There is also a computerized instrument cluster for the driver and an optional head-up display that puts information right on the windshield. Owners may also modify the screens with “widgets,” much like a smartphone.

Despite all the expensive gear, the automobile is still functional. The trunk in the back stores between 534 and 1,347 liters, depending on wether the seats are up or down and there is a 90-liter storage compartment beneath the hood. If you need to tow a trailer or a boat, the Cayenne Coupé Electric can pull up to 7,716 lb. It also comes with air suspension as standard, so it should feel pretty smooth on the road.

The car is still useful even with all the advanced technology. Depending on whether the seats are up or down, the rear trunk can contain between 534 and 1,347 liters, plus there is a 90-liter storage space beneath the hood. The Cayenne Coupé Electric can tow up to 7,716 pounds if you need to tow a boat or trailer. It should feel incredibly smooth on the road because air suspension is a standard feature.
