Though keep in mind that the related C3 Aircross is actually the crossover operating in this segment, the French company also incorporated the slightly higher stance and rugged looks of an SUV to give the C3 plenty of presence. The appealing Citroen C3’s angular exterior styling was inspired by a concept car called the Oli.
Silver skid plates in the bumpers, black-plastic cladding over the wheel arches and roof rails up top all indisputably offer the C3 kerb appeal, but it’s perhaps not quite as fantastic to see as certain retro-inspired rivals such as the Renault 5 E-Tech electric and Fiat Grande Panda.

Paint choices for the 2026 Citroen C3
The standard paint for the Citroen C3 is Monte Carlo Blue. Polar White is the next option, and costs €200. Mercury Grey, Bright Blue and Perla Nera Black cost €595, while Elixir Red is the most expensive choice at €795.
A two-tone roof paint job is standard on all C3s. All colors have a black roof, with the exception of Monte Carlo Blue and Black, which have a white upper part.

Citroen keeps costs down in the C3 by creating some of the surfaces out of less-than-stellar plastics, but that’s not unusual in this market and, in the main, the interior is a nice place to spend time. There’s a reasonable level of equipment in all variants and the onboard tech is straightforward to operate, while space in the back for people is considerable.
Getting settled in the driver's seat
Both the driver’s seat and the reach-and-rake steering column are manually adjusted, with the former movable for height as well as forward and backwards.
The resulting driving position is great, the front seats are really comfortable and supportive and the view out of the Citroen’s spacious glasshouse in all directions is as superb as you’d want for a city-based car like this.
Technology and infotainment
The main infotainment is a 10.25-inch screen located in the dash, which can run both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly.
The C3’s high-set instrument cluster, which eliminates the need for a driver’s head-up display, and its proprietary graphics are neither particularly noteworthy, but they both function well and provide all the information required in a clear and succinct manner. Additionally, there is still a lot of physical switchgear scattered throughout the interior of the C3 to make using its onboard ancillaries simple even for the uninitiated.
Practicality in the cabin
Up front, the door pockets in the Citroen C3 are a respectable size and there’s a fair glovebox too, while there are two cupholders and then a storage tray set directly in front of those.
However, the hybrid and 320km e-C3 vehicles feature automatic parking brakes, thus they have a central stowage cubby between the front seats, but the petrol and 200km e-C3 models have a manual handbrake.
Passenger space in the back seat
Even taller passengers can find plenty of space in the back of the Citroen C3, and the nearly level floor makes it possible to fit three persons across the back bench.
Headroom is good too, while those in the rear get access to a USB-C charging port, decent door bins and a modest storage box positioned at the back of the centre console.
However, there’s no central armrest or cupholders, although on the backs of the front seats are enormous pockets at the bottom and then a handy, smaller slot-like bag at the top for cellphones and other gadgets.
Perhaps the only issue with rear-seat accomodation is you more immediately notice the try-hard red labels on the door cars in the back (they’re found in the front, too), which feature cringey slogans like ‘be cool’ and ‘feel good’.
Fitting kid seats into the Citroen C3
There are two ISOFIX positions in the outer-two chairs of the C3’s rear bench, complete with top tethers. Thanks to the wide-opening back doors and the legroom in the second row, fitting child seats in here shouldn’t be a significant problem, though bulky seats might force the parents up front to slide their chairs forward a bit.

At 310 litres with all seats in use, the trunk bay of the Citroen C3 is a reasonable size and shape. The floor is fairly low, though, generating a pronounced loading lip, and features in this area are restricted to lashing eyes in the floor and a small hook moulded into the luggage cover’s running rails. The back seats, meanwhile, split-fold in a 60:40 layout.
The Citroen C3's safety
The Citroen C3 has not been tested by Euro NCAP. It does have active lane departure warning, a driver attention alert, active safety braking and lane keep assist among its standard-fit advanced driver assistance systems, but it’s uncertain as to how it would perform in the latest, most demanding examinations carried out by Euro NCAP.

The petrol and hybrid variants of the Citroen supermini are offered as C3s, and both feature a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels.
For the conventional petrol C3, this provides 100hp and is paired to a manual gearbox, while the hybrid improves the power output to 110hp and has an automatic transmission. These C3s accomplish 0-100km/h in 9.8 (hybrid) and 10.6 seconds (petrol).
The electric variations go under the slightly unusual name of e-C3, and they come in 200km and 320km configurations according to roughly how far they can go on a charge.
Both, however, employ the same 113hp electric motor and are officially touted to run 0-100km/h in 10.4 seconds. This is unusual, given the 200km variant is around 78kg less than the 320km, due to its smaller battery pack.

You’ll uncover the shortest-range Citroen e-C3 – named the ‘Urban Range’ in other markets but not here – is most pleased in precisely that environment: urban streets.
Its marvelously supple and forgiving suspension makes a joke of cratered city roads, soaking up all save the very worst irregularities in the tarmac. When its rudimentary torsion-beam rear suspension does get caught out, the resulting bounce from the chassis is slightly more uncomfortable for people in the back seats than it is in the front, but it’s by no means dreadful when it happens.
Remarkably, for a car based exclusively on town and city driving, the e-C3 200km is also thoroughly adept on the freeway, where its suspension delivers a superb, controlled and pleasant ride at 110km/h, just as much as it performs excellently below 50km/h.
Furthermore, the electric Citroen is quiet at these speeds, so it can hold its own outside of built-up regions – despite the fact that’s not what it was created for.
However, although it’s snappy enough up to 100km/h, the 113hp and paltry 124Nm restrictions of the electric engine mean the e-C3 is more happier when it’s not being pushed aggressively.
This is fantastic news since if you start driving the car vigorously on a winding road, there will be a significant amount of body movement due to the soft springs and cushioned dampers, but the light, feel-free steering is not at all prepared for this kind of foolishness. If you’re a more serious driver, there are better superminis—electric or petrol—than this one.
No, this Citroen’s kinematic assets are its light weight, agility, and ease of maneuverability. If you treat it properly, it can provide big-car comfort and refinement levels.
