Mercedes-Benz opened the order books for its newest electric automobiles in Germany. The firm is taking its most recognizable nameplate, the C-Class, into the world of battery power. The C-Class has long been a big seller for the German carmaker, and now, those who want a familiar luxury sedan without the tailpipe may finally buy one. The first model offered is the C 400 4MATIC, which marries powerful performance with a battery that promises a substantial range.
Private users in Germany will pay at least €67,711, which includes taxes. Business clients receive what appears like a somewhat better deal at €56,900 – but that’s the price before taxes. If you do not want to buy the car outright, Mercedes provides leasing for €470 a month. That might sound like a lot of money for a tiny sedan, but Mercedes puts a lot of technology into the frame, striving to make sure purchasers feel like they are getting a premium product for their dollars.
The C 400 4MATIC is not a slow vehicle. It boasts 800 Nm of torque and 360 kW of power. Because of this, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. That is a lot of performance for a car that people often use for commuting. The maximum speed of 210 km/h should be sufficient for any highway. Even in inclement conditions, the car’s all-wheel drive technology keeps it steady on the road.
The WLTP testing standard states that the C 400 4MATIC can travel up to 762 km on a single charge. The automobile charges quickly because of the 800V system. In just ten minutes, you can increase its range by 325 kilometers by plugging it into a fast charger. This implies that it is feasible to travel from Berlin to Paris with just one quick stop for electricity and coffee.
Mercedes fitted the MBUX Hyperscreen, which is a roughly 40-inch piece of glass that covers the front of the vehicle, within the interior. To maintain smooth operation, the system makes use of the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System. It even features a virtual assistant that communicates with the driver. Additionally, the vehicle has 470 liters of cargo space in the trunk and an additional 101 liters in the front trunk, or “frunk.”
The electric GLC SUV is already a huge success, but the C-Class is brand-new. According to Mercedes, there are more orders for this SUV than for any other electric model in the company’s history. In Bremen, Germany, the electric GLC is manufactured on the same assembly lines as the gas and hybrid models, which enables the manufacturer to adjust production levels according to consumer demand. The GLC 400 4MATIC has a maximum range of 715 kilometers.
The batteries for these vehicles originate from a facility in Kamenz. These batteries are current and efficient, allowing for the same quick charging speeds seen in the car. In the GLC, a 10-minute charge adds roughly 305 kilometers of driving distance. To make the driving more comfortable, Mercedes offers an air suspension technology called AIRMATIC and optional rear-axle steering.
Mercedes employs roughly 10,500 workers at the Bremen facility to keep up with the demand for these EVs. This factory creates eleven different models, illustrating that building vehicles is a very intricate business. The business is already developing new versions of the electrified C-Class for the future. One forthcoming model will have rear-wheel drive and should travel roughly 800 km on a full charge.
